What's the Shape of the Post-LSC Landscape?
 |
|
Media Clippings

|
| |
The clock is
ticking as we enter the last few months before the
Learning and Skills Council (LSC) gives way to a
range of successor bodies from April 2010 a move
with major implications for the entire UK education
sector.
Most education, learning and development
professionals will be aware that as a result the
role of local authorities will radically change and
two new agencies the Young People's Learning Agency
(YPLA) and the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) will come
into being, with a proposed initial budget between
them of £11bn.
But many can be forgiven for being less than clear,
as the LSC enters its final phase, on the precise
role of the YPLA/SFA, their specific remits as well
as other key questions, e.g. the new role of the
Regional Development Agencies.
The ink is not even that dry on the Government's
plans - and we can anticipate that the coming months
will see a flurry of activity as the final pieces
are laid down in time for the April 2010 handover.
To help you prepare for the handover and to explore
some of the implications, both obvious and maybe
not-so-obvious, Versa has prepared this set of free
resources.

|
 |
|
What have you got in your briefcase today?
A laptop and a typical day's reading matter: two
different views of future Government policy
depending on which party gets in, the papers for the
meeting I'm attending tomorrow, the results of a
survey we've just commissioned on staff morale and
motivation and two letters from MPs raising issues
about constituents.
What's the most embarrassing (work!) mistake
you've made?
Forgetting the name of a keynote speaker I was about
to introduce at a major headteacher's conference
....
